Albert Dailey, My Big African Brother, Miss Him…

I met Albert when I was 16 years old living in the back of Richard’s Lounge in Lakewood N.J. Albert invited me to the The City and brought me around the studio he was working on his album in, and brought me to some of the clubs and just treated me like somebody…I never saw Albert after those few days I spent with him, he died not to long after. The man had a big influence on that 16 year old kid…Albert worked with everybody, John Coiltrane, Bird, you name em, he worked with them…

I enjoyed his playing and the musical number. I was an occasional visitor at Richard’s Lounge around 1976. It was a fun place to be for good music (cool jazz), great tasting drinks and a smiling, friendly Richard.
